Forwarding and delivery of goods during conflict
The Norwegian Transport Workers’ Union (NTF) has as of 26th May, 2010 notified that a general dispensation has been given for transport of medicines and medical equipment to hospitals, nursing homes and chemist’s shops.
The dispensation has been given with important reservations, and there are significant challenges in connection with the actual carrying out of the transport as long as all traffic terminals are paralyzed due to the conflict.
Tollpost globe door-door consignments are still being transported. Customers who wish to take advantage of this solution may contact their logistics consultant or their carrier, tel. (+47)09300. As an alternative, the customer must find other transporters for goods they want forwarded during the strike. As for delivery of goods already within the terminals and which require terminal handling, special rules apply.
NTF’s leader has confirmed to the Norwegian Logistics and Freight Association (LTL) that carrying out work at terminal hit by strike is permitted. In the recommendation from the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO)’s labour dispute committee, the following is stated: “This entails that the chief executive – CEO or general manager – may take over his subordinates’ normal tasks, while department leaders must remain within own sector”. Because of the conflict, only the general manager/department manager is present at the terminal.
Tollpost Globe consequently has very limited capacity at the terminals. We also inform you that pickets may be present at the terminals.
Concerning consignments inside the Tollpost Globe terminals and which the customer should like to collect personally, the local department may be contacted on tel. no. (+47)09300. Consignment number must be stated and possible delivery of goods will be handled at local department, case by case.
