The Swedish Ministry of Industry, Energy and Communications and the Danish Ministry of Transport have signed the final merger agreement between Post Danmark A/S and Posten Sverige AB. Tollpost Globe welcomes this merger.
Posten Sverige AB is sole owner of Tollpost Globe.
- This may prove important to our further development. We anticipate good opportunities related to getting an even stronger ownership with an even more comprehensive market potential, says managing director of Tollpost Globe, Mr. Robin Olsen.
The total turnover of the merged organisation will amount to approx. NOK 40 billion and will employ 50,000 persons. The new organisation has as a long term goal to be listed on the stock exchange both in Stockholm and Copenhagen.
The Swedish state owns approx. 60 percent while the Danish state owns 40 percent. The head office will be situated in Stockholm. However, ownership influence will be balanced as each party has an equal number of votes.
- This is a historic merger between two important national post organisations. The new organisation will enhance our competitive advantages against the increasing challenges in the communications- and logistics markets and secure our favourable position for maintaining a first class, competitive letter- and parcel service in both countries, says group chief executive, Mr. Lars G Nordström of Posten AB.
The Letter of Intent was signed on 1st April, 2008. The merger was approved by the Swedish parliament (Riksdagen) on 18th June last year and by the Danish parliament (Folketinget) on 12th June last year.
