Tunnel maintenance on the E134 will influence the forwarding period to Haugesund.
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration is implementing checks and repairs of tunnels on the route between Eastern Norway and Haugesund. This entails longer forwarding periods.
The project is divided into 2 phases:
Phase 1 The Haukeli Tunnel.
Start-up was May 7th 07, estimated completion Nov/Dec 07. Diversion on the old road by Dyrskar, anticipated extra forwarding period approx. 30 min.
Phase 2 The Seljestad Tunnel
Start-up here was in the middle of May 07, estimated completion Nov/Dec 07. Diversion via Sand, classified road 13, and anticipated extra forwarding period approx. 1 hour and 30 min.
There are no existing alternative forwarding routes from Eastern Norway.
Our Haugesund Department is assessing the consequences of later arrivals. It has been clarified that the local area, as well as the Haugesund city centre, will not be significantly affected, but for some routes and postal codes the transport schedule may be changed. We will obviously notify possible changes as soon as the consequences of later arrivals have been clarified. Later arrivals may also affect outgoing traffics from Eastern Norway, which may also entail transport schedule changes.
Our department manager in Haugesund is in continuous contact with the project manager of the Public Roads Administration, and is simultaneously working out production and capacity changes for his department. For additional information, please see the Public Roads Administration’s web site: www.vegvesen.no
Price changes during this period:
The forwarding delays result in added costs for our company in regard to terminal capacity as well as local distribution in addition to forwarding costs. Consequently, we are obliged to change our cost structure. We’ll be introducing one additional zone for groupage from Eastern Norway to the Haugesund area. For full/part loads, the prices will increase by 8.8% for this distance. The changes will be in force as of June 1st, 2007.
