It is convenient, time saving, cheaper, and you have a wider selection. Therefore, Norwegians are increasingly shopping online. E-commerce is growing in Scandinavia, and Norwegians tops the statistics for online shopping from abroad. Preferably, we buy clothes from USA and UK.
Thursday 9 June Tollpost Globe's launches a new e-commerce report, "E-commerce in the Nordic countries in 2011”. The report is based on over 3,000 telephone interviews with, respectively, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Finnish consumers, and provides insight into the Nordic consumers' shopping habits.
Norwegians have for a long time supplemented their trade in the store with e-commerce, and every fourth Norwegian buy goods via the internet or mail order catalogs every month. Two of the three have shopped from overseas, and 16 percent buy goods from abroad every month. Clothes and electronics are most popular, and we prefer paying using our Visa card.
Still Norwegians exceeds the Swedes in their trade, in all categories.
Not afraid to be deceived
Among the Nordic region's population, Norwegians are also those who are least afraid of being cheated when they buy from abroad, and are not worried that the goods will not arrive.
Consumers in other Nordic countries responds to a far greater extent that these are the reasons they choose not to purchase from abroad.
Accustomed to wait
Norwegians are far less demanding than their Nordic neighbors in terms of delivery times. For example requires twice as many Danes as Norwegians that the goods are delivered within 3-5 days. Among the Norwegians
almost one in three are willing to wait for over eight days on the product's.
However, there are also many similarities in trade patterns among Nordic consumers, and the prospects for e-commerce in the Nordic countries are good. One in three believe that they are going to buy more goods online in the coming year, while two out of three say they will buy just as much. Very few expect to reduce their trading online.
