Tollpost Globe hit by strike – lay-off notice

Tollpost Globe was Saturday morning hit by strike. 202 good assistants at Alfaset, Kolbotn and the cold storage terminal in Oslo initiated a strike. This will in reality paralyze all activities at the Oslo area terminals and will also rapidly have consequences for other parts of the country.

The parties under the Transporter Tariff did not manage to reach an agreement after 5 hours’ overtime negotiations. The Norwegian Transport Workers’ Union (NTF) consequently chose to carry out the previously notified collective notice for their members.

Tollpost Globe’s services will be severely hit by the strike. Only the so-called consignment freight, i.e. goods forwarded directly from one customer to another without transport via terminal for re-loading, will be carried out as usual.

-We have been obliged to adjust the manpower according to decrease in goods volume, and have now given lay-off notice for 150 employees, says Mr. Robin Olsen, CEO of Tollpost Globe. The lay-off will hit all Tollpost Globe regions in addition to various functions working close to operations. – We deeply regret the inconvenience this strike will enetail for our customers and our employees.

The decrease in goods volume corresponds approximately to 30 000 parcels or 1 200 tons of goods per day.
