Safety and quality in forwarding of goods and information is further improved by bar code labelling of consignments. The bar code labelled units pass through several points of registration, which entails
*Inspection at all points in the transport process
*Possibility for automatic classification and consequently quicker handling of goods
*Discrepancy reporting
*Gives customers the option of search through the Internet.
It is of course possible to use other EDI solutions for bar code labelling than the Tollpost Globe software, but it's the combination of EDI-transfer and bar code labelling that gives the optimal opportunity for rapid flow of transportation of goods as well as handling of information.
Tollpost Globe has, in co-operation with other leading carriers and customers, prepared a revised consignment note for domestic transport. A recommended Norwegian solution for consignment number, unit identifier and transport label has also been worked out.
The solution for transport labelling including unit identifier and consignment number is based on international standards and may consequently be used across borders. Among other things, this entails that unit identifiers and consignments numbers issued abroad for imported goods may be decoded and used in domestic forwarding and distribution and vice versa.
